Shoe Photoshoot

So carrying on from the last blog post, our group had now chosen our words that we wanted to use to inspire us for our photoshop.  Once again our words were fluid, enigma, exoticism, mesmerise and paradox.  This is what these words all mean as stated in the dictionary:

Fluid- a substance that has no fixed shape and yields easily to external pressure; a gas or (especially) a liquid.

Enigma- a person or thing that is mysterious or difficult to understand.

Exoticism- the quality of being attractive or striking through being colourful or unusual.

Mesmerise- capture the complete attention of (someone); transfix.

Paradox- a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true.

These words obviously can all be interpreted in different ways, but we decided to focus on the literal meanings of them mostly.  For our brief, each group got given a prop to incorporate into their photoshoot.  We were given the prop shoe.

After brainstorming different ideas, we decided that we didn’t want to use the shoe in a cliche way, and instead we wanted to do something very different and creative.  So then we were thinking about the word paradox and how it mean contradiction, so we thought the model could wear the shoes in a different way.  Following on from this, we decided that our idea could be to cut up shoes that we bought and make them into accessories to be worn on the head, neck, ears etc.  We all agreed that this was a great idea for our photoshoot and that we could fit it in with all of the words, so we took a trip down to primark and bought some cheap shoes to make into accessories.  The first accessory would be earrings made out of the top of a pair of trainers, the second being a headband made from heels, and the last being a choker made from part of a slider.  Here are some photos of us making the accessories:

Once we had made the accessories, we began shooting the photoshoot.  Beth, from my group, decided to model and we made sure that for each photo we did quite dramatic makeup that linked in with the colours of the accessories.  WE wanted an editorial look to the photos.  We also decided to stick with a white background as we wanted the focus to be on the accessory and we thought it would be more effective when editing after.  Here are our final photos:
