We all know how small and naked your student room can feel walking into your ‘new home’ for the first time. It can feel alien and un-personalised, but there are some simple tips and tricks you can follow to make your new nest a place you feel at home.
Photo walls + Fairy lights
These an app called PhotoPrint where you can send up to 150 photos from your phone; the only costing you pay is the postage, which is normally £3-£4. Once you have those delivered, go onto amazon and by some simple pins, tape and 15-foot-long fairy lights for £10.99. Once in your room choose the largest wall and start placing the photos in a centralised circle, then place the fairy lights in a square around the photos, using the pins to secure them. When finished, turn the lights on and stand back and look at the warm and cosy masterpiece you’ve created, that will always remind you of the people you love.

Pillows
Pillows are everything! In student rooms you can’t redecorate the walls with paint or wall paper, so a simple way to add style with pillows. Stacking textures and colours of pillows that suit your overall rooms colour scheme can create the impression of a room that is inviting, while giving your bed a welcoming appeal for cold Netflix night-in; so, invest in some pillows!

Window Displays
My favourite part of my room is the window display. It’s the first thing you see when you walk in the room and as we all know, first impressions count. In the centre is a room diffuser with a peacock feather bunched with the reed sticks. Around this I have dotted my perfumes, my jewellery tray and overall accessory station. I would definitely recommend investing some time looking around Primark or Zara Home to find some small and affordable trinkets you can place in your room to make it feel full of character.
